yeasayer Artist Under The Radar :: Yeasayer

Yeasayer Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, & Luke Fasano are a experimental band out of New York City. Fusing spiritual and visionary sounds all while putting on one hell of a live performance, not seen since The Talking Heads (prior to David Byrnes ego). The band achieved major buzz after the SXSW festival in 2007 and since has toured with MGMT & Man Man. “Sunrise” is as refreshing as it sounds, a thumping kick drum along with wild vocal arrangements that give you a Genesis (Phil Collins approved) feel.

oasi3syu4 Oasis Previews Latest Album Online

Even though their album has been streaming from various internet sites and forums for the past two weeks, Oasis has announced they will stream their album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul,’ off their myspace page, starting October 1st (aka tomorrow for those keeping track at home).  Normal artist will push their album up to deal with the Jack Sparrows of the world.  But as we’ve seen throughout the years, Oasis is no normal band.  ‘Dig Out Your Soul‘ drops October 6th (October 7th in the US).

Kiki Pau – Your Bedroom (Video)

// September 30th, 2008 // No Comments » // Video

At the beginning of the catchy and symphonic, ‘In Your Bedroom‘, we thought we were looking at the trailer for Saw V. The back drop for this video is eerie similar to the room that is featured in the Saw series. Besides being a little whimsical by the abnormal images of Kiki Pau with toilet paper, paint and dental floss on their face, this song is IndiePop at its best.

We had to special order this album from our vendor, so it might be hard to get your hand on it if you live in the states.  However, if you live in Finland, you have no excuse.  Go out and pick up their debut album, ‘Let’s Rock.’

Funky,Eclectic,Soulful describes each member and rightfully so it will be only a matter of time before they cash in on there success. Here is a track off of the EP “Special Lady” Christian Urichs vocals over an infectious tune that’s sure to get the day started here in the office.

Retro Throwback :: Res “Golden Boys”

// September 27th, 2008 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Res (pronounced reese) is a female Rock/R&B singer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her music is a mixture of soul and rock. She released an album Say How I Do in 2001 and created a little buzz but never quite hit the mark like she deserved to. Poor promotion and wrong single choices was rumored to be the reason. Res was and still is a true musician that has been a major influence on artist who have crossed over to mainstream success such as M.I.A. Santogold, and a few others.

While Res has recently put up some new material on her site, we still are waiting for another official release. If we can wait for Ms. Hill (10 years and counting) then I’m sure we have no problem waiting for Res. Here is the vid for “Golden Boys” one of her first hits from her debut album. A cutting-edge artist/innovator that fell upon deaf ears, unfortunately.

Black Cab Sessions :: “The Cool Kids”

// September 26th, 2008 // No Comments » // Video

As we recover today from this wild wild afternoon of great weather and good moods here in the office (sarcasm) a little pick me up is greatly needed. The Black Cab Sessions are quite simple, take an artist or poet give them one take, one song & one shot and film the whole thing so the internets (thanks george) can see.

We’re not picky on who we select for a performance or about the genre if the performance is good then we’re happy to open the cab doors to anyone.

After that last quote from “The Black Cab Sessions” I’m starting to believe that we need to have BCS on speed dial and send some of the artist we feature also. Here is a recent session with “The Cool Kids” who pulled a couple of freestyles out of there hats and gave a performance worth posting. Not really our thing (ok my) but times are changing and this is worth the price of posting.

Side Note- look at the 2:50 to 2:55 mark!!! he has the WTF look on his face priceless!!!!
