Five hundred days of summer 324x500 A Look Back | 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack

Thanks to HBO showing 500 Days of Summer every other day, we are reminded, first how good a movie it is, and secondly, how great the soundtrack is. In fact, it’s one of the best soundtracks to come out in recent years.

500 Days of Summer has the perfect blend of new, old and overlooked artists. Classic tracks from The Smiths, Hall & Oats and Simon & Garfunkle, overlooked artists such as Regina Spektor and Feist, to new artist as The Temper Trap. Another thing that stands out from this album is that all the tracks that were played in the movie are featured on the soundtrack. Sounds like a minor issue, but there are a ton of movies that don’t have the same songs as the soundtrack or might be missing tracks, thanks to legal issues.

500 Days of Summer has been moved into that list of classic soundtracks, joining High Fidelity, Garden State, and Do The Right Thing (to name a few).
