Artist Spotlight:: Re-Introduction To Martina Topley-Bird

You know that moment where maybe just maybe an artist that you’ve wanted to secretly keep away from the mainstream vultures, pops up on an album that will surely bring those vultures closer! well enter Martina Topley-Bird, whose been on our radar for quite sometime now.  Martina is not new to the music field, in fact she’s very seasoned if you ask us, getting her start in the mid 90′s (yup you read right) working with artists such as Tricky & Blur reject frontman Damon Albams “The Gorillaz”.

We could go on an extreme rant of her appearing on Commons new album “Universal Mind Control” with the infectious track “Everywhere” but that could last for days, what we will do is reach into our files and provide you with a selection from her latest release “The Blue God“.  How long can one of your secret gems continue to go underappreciated? for those who’ve been sleeping for years, now is the time to WAKE UP!!! Topley-Bird is about to get her just due.  Phoenix is produced by Danger Mouse and shows off what we’ve been knowing for years, smoky vocals never sounded so sweet.
