Lisa Hannigan is a name you might know if you read the liner notes of Damien Rice’s, O and 9. If you didn’t catch the name you will recognize the voice from those albums. Hard to believe it’s been little over a year since Rice decided that his ‘professional relationship with Hannigan had run it’s creative course.’
After years of bootlegs and radio-rips of her performing covers on tour, Hannigan has given her fans an abate (not in a bad way) and relaxing album entitled, Sea Saw. Sea Saw is a departure from her work with Damien Rice (expect for the track, Teeth). Instead of Hannigan complementing someone’s voice (it seem like Rice would start a song and she would finish it) she is allowed to shine by letting her pure urbane voice act as an instrument.
Her physical album is only available in Ireland. However, you can go on her page and download it or catch a plane to Ireland…it’s up to you. Either way you won’t be disappointed. Hannigan will be on tour with her Irish Band this fall, hitting some New York and Los Angles spots with Jason Mraz (A London D favorite). 2008 looks like a great year for Hannigan. Sea Saw, has been blasting from the Cafe Speakers since we got it last week and it will be in heavy rotation for a months to come.
