Mimicking Birds- The Loop- Modest Mouse protege’s put out a gorgeous fixture that lasted well throughout the year, it was also a favorite for a few readers of ours.
The Noisettes- Atticus- Making any reference to the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” and turning it into this gem by a band who finally got there just due, deserves a spot on our list.
White Denim- I Start To Run- Downright dirty and a killer bass lead! 2:52 seconds of pure awesomeness.
Tracks 4-12 of the mix tape as well as the download are after the jump.
MPHO- See Me Now- This Brixton gal put her stamp on ’09 with what very well could be an anthem for all doubters. “Wish that you could see me now, I’m everything you said I’d never be” words to surely live by……..
Washed Out- Feel It All Around- Ernest Green took us to a place where good times are mandatory and stress is an afterthought. Chill tune of the year.
Ellie Goulding- Guns and Horses- The tune that started it all! who knew an unknown would go on to be the hottest ticket for 2010. Well we did………. nuff said…………
Bat For Lashes- Daniel- Natasha Khan invited us into a world filled with mythical sounds of epic proportion. One of our most played tracks of ’09.

Regina Spektor – Laughing With – She probably had the most conscious song of 09. No one is laughing at God when they are down and out.

Muse – Undisclosed Desires - An infectious beat and a fantastic song that builds on the way up. Epic!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero – One of only two tracks that made it from our Best Tracks of 2009 So Far list (Daniel was the other), Zero was forced down our throats during their album tour run, but when I hear it, it reminds of 2009 and YYY’s new sound. Those simple reasons is why this track can’t be left off this list.

Chauffeur – Soles Of Fire – Why can’t this be a real group? Sam Sparro, Theophilus London, Tommy and Victor from the Dap Kings combine to make a smooth track that sounds like it came straight from the 80s.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition – Great band with a very interesting sound, that has a chance to be huge. If Sweet Dispostion is a taste of whats to come, we are in for a real treat in the upcoming years.

Gil Scott-Heron – Me And The Devil – I find myself listening to this track at least once a day, Gil Scott-Heron came back with a track that keeps in the tradition of his powerful and thought provoking work.
