Jeff Buckley was an American singer-songwriter that gain popularity in the mid 90′s thanks to his critically acclaimed debut album, Grace. Though Buckley’s style was a cross between Van Morrison meets Led Zeppelin, his music upbringing is extremely diverse. From performing in several jazz & funk bands, to playing with Shinehead (a leader in Dancehall Reggae music), to forming a band with Gary Lucus (God and Monsters), then finally, singing Qawwali (the devotional music of India and Pakistan).
Buckley died in 1997 at 30. *Cliche time* However, his influence lives through today’s generation of singers/songwriters. Artists, such as Ours, Cold War Kids, Ben Harper, Chris Cornell and Pete Yorn have all been influenced by Buckley.
On the menu today we have one of our favorite songs, Forget Her. Give it a listen and go get Grace if you haven’t gotten it.
