Going through albums we never got a chance to listen to this week and I ask myself, why would we be sitting on this album? I first got word of Val Emmich was back in 2003 thanks to a show on MTV called, Advance Warning (semi decent show). There was something about this voice and style that stuck out. Well, it’s been six years since his solid yet raw debut, Slow Down Kid (It was so raw, they re-released it with two new pop songs). Val dropped his third album, Little Daggers in 2008, and it’s clear that he has grown as an artist. Polished indie pop songs (border edge emo if you ask me) that you expect to be playing on mainstream radio. For some reason he hasn’t caught on yet, but soon will (ie – Jason Mraz). Check out the slow haunting tune, Catalyst.
