Now rarely (very) will you see news about India Arie here on the site, why? well there are a million other places to dig up info about the talented R&B star. However in this case an exception had to be made. Arie recently spoke to “Sun Goddess” Helen Folasade Adu, you may know her by the name Sade. The two spoke about Arie covering the heartfelt “Pearls” track, here is what she had to say.
“I’m doing [a cover of Sade’s] ‘Pearls’ on this album,” Arie told us. “And I’m so excited because I finally talked to Sade about it and got her blessing…What’s funny is that I thought the song was called ‘Hurts Like Brand New Shoes’ [a line from the 1992 song]. I mean, I’m a Sade fan! (And she opened for her in 2001). And I seriously thought ‘Hurts Like Brand New Shoes’ was the name. Not ‘Pearls’. Crazy, I know.”
Correct us if we’re out of line here, but how can you make a mistake like that? Did she not read the TRACKLISTING? it should be interesting to see what India comes up with, “Testimony Vol 2, Love & Politics” is in stores Feb 10. Watch the original version after the click.
