No we’re not late with this introduction of Tokyo quartet The Suzan we actually were waiting to get our hands on there new single (released this week) “Home.” Catchy pop tunes go a far way………just ask Peter Bjorn and John who’s working on there debut. Not sure what to expect from a full length, but this is quite the track to get your weekend started early. Just keep the dancing to a minimum.

Nottee is a Swedish singstress that’s about to be the next big thing, that could actually be the next big thing. While the early year has already sided favorites in the Pop world, we guarantee that will soon change. A piano driven “Control” was all the proof we needed to take this electro pop delight and share it amongst the massiveness of fans that awaits. To put it briefly, she’s on the verge of something special. Major things coming from this Swede, stay tuned. In the meantime have a listen below and keep the jamming to a minimum. There’s more to be released.

Penguin Prison| Something I’m Not

Penguin Prison is a singer songwriter from Brooklyn New York who’s currently on radar watch here at the cafe. We’ve featured some of his work with some remixes by other artists you may be familiar with…… Ellie Goulding, Theophilus London sounds familiar? If Pop music in the indie world ever needed a shake up then “Something I’m Not,” could very well be the culprit. Let’s just hope he sticks to this formula with the upcoming full length and not “Animal Animal” cause quite honestly, that was just corny!

Jesse Kivel just might be the busiest dude in 2010, despite his current stint with L.A. based foursome Princeton (check below) he’s found time to form another tandem, this time with someone special. Kivel and girlfriend Zinzi Edmunson who’s also a fashion blogger, are part of a new duo called Kisses. The two are dream pop to say the least and if “Bermuda” is any indication of what’s to come from there full length, they could be on the verge of some Sonny & Cher comparisons. Our 2010 Summer soundtrack just received another entry.

Been a while since I’ve checked in on the dudes from the great upnorth.  Honestly after this past weekend my dislike for Sid Crosby hit level Orange, so anything from up there was far from thought.  Born Ruffians however have eased my mood with some new material from the talented trio.  “Sole Brother” is the latest single from there upcoming release “Say It” via Warp.

The track apparently is about not abiding to rules, family members and doing things on your own.

Aloe Blacc| I Need A Dollar

This week we posted information about “How To Make It In America” which is HBO’s latest discovery. Amongst the highlights of the very promising show and soundtrack was Aloe Blacc. Blacc is a singer songwriter from California who some (underground only) people may remember from the group Emanon. A fusion of soul & hip hop has placed this West coaster very high on our artist watch list over the coming months. Here’s “I Need A Dollar” from the series soundtrack, which is also the intro song for the show.
