Jesse Kivel just might be the busiest dude in 2010, despite his current stint with L.A. based foursome Princeton (check below) he’s found time to form another tandem, this time with someone special. Kivel and girlfriend Zinzi Edmunson who’s also a fashion blogger, are part of a new duo called Kisses. The two are dream pop to say the least and if “Bermuda” is any indication of what’s to come from there full length, they could be on the verge of some Sonny & Cher comparisons. Our 2010 Summer soundtrack just received another entry.

She & Him are a few weeks away from there 2nd Lp hitting stores, to hold us over the duo have released visuals to there fun single “In The Sun.” While we could give you over 10 reasons on why we adore Zooey (Non 500 Days Of Summer) so much, we’ll leave that up to you after you watch the vid. “Volume 2” will see daylight on March 23rd.

The jury is still out on Brooklyn/Florida natives The Drums. Granted that they’ve managed to place number 5 on this year BBC sound list and while there live performances could use an extreme upgrade, popping out quirky singles such as the one above “Best Friend,” seems to be a norm.  This is far from groundbreaking music and sometimes you just have to take it for what it’s worth. Either you love them or hate em, they’ll continue to be all over 2010 whether we disagree or not. There yet untitled debut Lp via Moshi Moshi will hit stores on March 28th.

We gave you the teaser last week [here] and now the full version has surfaced. J*Davey has released the visuals for “Get Together,” our favorite track from there Boudir Synema Ep. What do we know about Psychobuildings? it would be very cliche and corny for me to insert a joke about buildings actually going berserk so I’ll save you and myself the trouble. However Psychobuildings is from Brooklyn and apparently is reviving my Talking Heads fetish. Have a listen to “Paradise” which is a b side off the “7 inch single. Track is full of David Byrne-esque vocals, David Byrne-esque vocals & more David Byrne-esque vocals. Turn this up, all the way up!

Been a while since I’ve checked in on the dudes from the great upnorth.  Honestly after this past weekend my dislike for Sid Crosby hit level Orange, so anything from up there was far from thought.  Born Ruffians however have eased my mood with some new material from the talented trio.  “Sole Brother” is the latest single from there upcoming release “Say It” via Warp.

The track apparently is about not abiding to rules, family members and doing things on your own.

Lissie is on the heels of releasing her debut via possum, We’re guessing this is going to be the first official single being that two versions have surfaced already. Here’s a superb live performance of “In Sleep,” Very Fleetwood Mac if you ask us.

Excuse us if we may have been a tad bit late for this one! Coultrain has resurfaced again with “Wanderer” that is currently fulfilling all of our current needs in the soul department. You may remember us introducing the St Louis native last year with his triple p collaboration. Not really much to continue on about this one, the tune itself sums it up. A full length should drop soon, in the meantime head over and purchase the 7″ and a bonus cut as well.

Daniel Merriweather has had his fair share of love around here at the cafe. He placed in our favorite songs, artists & albums lists in ‘09. An album “Love & War” that just hit the states yesterday, it’s also an Lp that’s definitely worth the purchase.
