Jesse Boykins| Sunstar (Video)

Last time we caught up with Jesse Boykins he stopped by the cafe before heading out to SXSW festival. A few weeks later and Boykins has delivered the third single from his breakout album “The Beauty Created.” With all this madness going on with the Swine Flu H1N1 craze, tropical weather and beautiful scenery is needed, even if it is only for four minutes.

Karmaloop TV | The Cool Kids

I guess The Cool Kids heard my little rant about them hiding out.  If we want to get back on my good graces, two posts in one day is the way to go.  In this Karmaloop video they talk about their wildest experience at SXSW.

School Of Seven Bells| White Elephant Coat

School Of Seven Bells is quickly turning out to be a pleasant discovery as the year continues. We recently got a chance to listen to there solid debut “Alpinisms” which is in stores now.  One of our favorite cuts off the album is “White Elephant Coat” a blissful tune to kick off the long week.

Theoretical Girl| Rivals

Theoretical Girl (Amy Turnidge) comes to you from South London. As of this moment, buzz has been very little here in the states but after a fresh showing at SXSW, all that will change. We’re sure other websites are already trying to get there hands on her music. Here’s “Rivals” an Electro-pop track that grows on you after a few listens. Can you say Ipso Facto anyone?

Kid Cudi and Little Boots | Day N Nite [Video]

It was only a matter of time before this happened.  No not Kid Cudi un-retiring (damn rap stars).  We’re talking about Kid Cudi and Little Boots hooking up to perform Day N’ Nite. One question…how does Little Boots get a louder ovation on your own song?

Anni Rossi| Machine Gun

anni rossi 500x392 Anni Rossi| Machine Gun

Anni Rossi is the latest addition into our rarest finds collection. Rossi, the Chicago Native have caused quite an interest around here after one listen to her Joanna Newsome-Regina Spektor-esque “Machine Gun.” Word is she’ll be at SXSW this week and headed for the Big Apple after, for a performance at the Mercury Lounge. Looks like we may just have to hear more of these dreamy vocals in the coming weeks. If you’re in the mood for a new find in the music field, “Rockwell” her debut album is in stores now.

John Forté | Runnin’ Up That Hill [Video]

Mr. Forté is back with a remix to Kate Bush’s classic 1985 track Running Up That Hill.  If your around for the SXSW this year, He will be making his first live public performance in eight years for Talib Kweli’s SXSW Blacksmith Records showcase on Thursday, March 19th at Scoot Inn.

Hockey| Too Fake

hockey1 500x278 Hockey| Too Fake

Hockey has been in our catalog for quite sometime (early 2008) and we wanted to keep them as our little secret, apparently and according to other recent sites, that just won’t happen.  Primed and destined to be the breakout act of 2009, these four Oregonians have the blogosphere buzzing.  We’re not sold on the hype yet and far from being into what everyone else is (thus the reason for this site) but it looks very promising for Capitol records latest signees.  Here’s a vintage tune “Too Fake” which could’ve very well been a hit at CBGB’s in the early 80’s.  Addictive, effective and extremely gritty.  SXSW just got a little better.

Balmorhea | Harm & Boom

blm Balmorhea | Harm & Boom

The Austin quartet Balmorhea is an avantgarde/experimental group that combines classical music with folk and modern qualities.  We got a tip about their latest track Harm and Boom last week  and have been playing non-stop.  It’s the definition of mood music at it’s finest.  We envisioned it playing during a sports montage, or a movie trailer, or even the score of a movie.  We’re eager to hear their album, All Is Wild, All Is Silent, which is due March 10th.  If you are around SXSW, check out them out at the Western Vinyl showcase along with Here We Go Magic, J. Tillman, Callers, and Sleep Whale.

Thanks Brian!
