Barack Obama’s DNC Speech

Published on August 29th, 2008

History was made Thursday night as 84,000 people filled the Invesco Field at Mile High stadium (John Elway never did numbers like that) as Sen Barack Obama gave his Historic speech. Obama walked to the stage with grace and confidence as he touched on every issue (just about) that raised concerns with most Democratic supporters and Independent voters.

Many people thought that this moment would never take place, to see an African American accept the nomination to run for office was not only a monumental achievement but it displayed what is going on in our nation as of now, and that is change.

I want to take a moment and think about all the people who paved the way for this to take place and to see the joy, tears, and embracing of one another, was truly a sight to be remembered.  Dr King had a vision and when he spoke the words of “I may not get there with you but we as a people will get to the promise land” never seemed more fitting than last night.
