Bats for Lashes is a semi-well known act from Brighton, England. We’ve been playing their 2007 album, ‘Fur and Gold’ before the cafe opened last month. So it’s only right to post something about it.
Bat For Lashes is Natasha Khan, but she is backed by The Blue Dreams, which consists of, Caroline Weeks, Ben Christophers, Katherine Mann, and Alex Thomas. If you got a chance to listen to ‘Fur and Gold’, then you know they are a band on the rise. Support from Thom Yorke and M.I.A., as well as being nominated for the Mercury Prize (in 2007) adds to that statement.
Khan is a incredible story-teller that is often compared to Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Björk, and PJ Harvey. While we agree with those comparisons. I feel we haven’t even begun to hear her best work.
