Fever Ray- “When I Grow Up”- Taking the word “Haunting” to an extreme level, Karin Andersson definitely raised the creativity bar and scared the hell out of many.
Howlies- “Angeline” Providing one catchy single and a real in depth look into our MTA system and for that reason alone you gotta love it.
Washed Out- “Feel It All Around”; Ernest Green aka Washed Out made me think about the good times that Summer brings with this chill out video.
Q-Tip Ft. Norah Jones- “Life Is Better”; Who would’ve thought that such a collab could create such magic! 15 years strong and Hip Hop still makes me appreciate true gems like this.
White Lies- “Fairwell To The Fairground”; Tipped off by London D, these lads showed a different side to living across the pond, a side that had me seriously considering cold weather and intense workout sessions.
Sharon Van Etten- “For You”; Simplicity goes a long way and this gorgeous Black & White piece proved that. Calming yet refreshing and brightened up a many of rainy days for myself.
Matt and Kim- “Lessons Learned”; Say what you want but taking it off in “Times Square” shows balls (literally.) The ending alone is well worth the view.
Company Of Thieves- “Oscar Wilde”; A great video from one of the more unknown bands. Plus the Rushmore parody solidified there place on this list.
Mos Def- “Quiet Dog”; Not an official video and I’ve never been an advocate for posting late night performances, I leave that to London D, but Mos gave the Late Show a swift kick in the arse with this one. Dope on so many levels.
Marissa Nadler- “River Of Dirt”; For those who know me and my fascination and talent for Photography would see why this made the list. Breathtaking video shot in Portugal, enough said…………………
School Of Seven Bells- “Half Asleep”; Twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza gave me a better appreciation for the most beautiful city in the world. New York and Shoegaze never mixed so well together. A dreamy comforting visual that has stayed with me all year long.
