Keeping up with the tradition of yearly lists, we have reached that time of year to let you guys know what videos are our favorites. Yesterday Hollywood Q gave you guys his list [here], today it’s my [London D] turn.
M.I.A – Born Free – I would never forget the day when this video came out. People who don’t follow M.I.A.’s music where talking about it on twitter and facebook and saying whether they loved it or hated it. Not matter what you may think about it, it got everyone talking and is one of the standout videos of this year. Powerful stuff here.
The Temper Trap – Love Lost – The group that has released an album that just won’t die. Has also released one of the feel good videos of the year. Kids will make any song or video better and this one is not exception.
Gil Scott-Heron – Me and The Devil – 2010 was the return of one of the greatest musicians ever. Gil Scott-Heron came back with a vengeance when he released Me and The Devil. The production of this track is the first thing that grabs you, and the visuals are a perfect mesh.
Theophilus London – Humdrum Town – Had to dig in the crates for this one. Looking at this video just feels like a unknown night in NY. Head out your house hit up a karaoke spot and just rock out with beautiful people. We love this city.
Asher Roth – Muddy Swim Trunks – The sheer fact that this song made me see Asher Roth in another light is why it made the list.
KiD CuDi, Rostam Batmanglij & Bethany Contentino – All Summer – Seeing this video puts us back to the 80 degree days and just running around the cafe acting stupid. Pretty much what was going down in this video.
The Roots – The Fire – Well done concept video that had us drawn in. Plus the ending is boss!
The Narcicyst featuring Shadia Mansour “Hamdulillah” – Even though this list isn’t in numerical order, I might have to rank The Narcisyst track as the best video of the year. It’s a good track, but the video only enhances the song.
Cee Lo Green – Fuck You – Do we even have to say why we love this track and video.
Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand – The only video that never was originally posted on the site is easily the most star studded video on this list, is also the video that embodied the summer in this city for us. Festivals, celebrities, pretty people and good times.
